Aaron J. Hands, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Texas. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Chi National Honor Societies.
Dr. Hands has published peer-reviewed articles on parental alienation and on personality disorders and conducted research on chronic pain. In his practice he evaluates and treats children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Hands specializes in treating depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, emotional problems related to learning difficulties, social adjustment problems, adjustment issues related to parents’ separation and divorce, and trauma. He uses various evidence-based practices in treatment, combining psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral interventions as necessary. Dr. Hands tailors his treatment to the specific needs of his clients.
Dr. Hands’ background includes evaluating and treating emotional and behavioral difficulties at SMU's counseling center, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and Parkland Behavioral Health Center.
